Our original reason for our three hour drive from Sumter, SC, to Wake Forest, NC, was for shopping at Wegmans, 11051 Ligon Mill Rd. Now, this may seem like extreme shopping, but Wegmans is not shopping, it’s an experience. Never mind how huge it looks on the outside, the inside is a ginormous open space store hosting twenty categories of shopping specialties. Each category in its own right could boast of their impressive selections. The two that stood out for me was the gluten-free options and the international selections. This is in addition to the usual store categories.

These photos are just the left side of the store, the front open market setting. The back and right side of the store is aisle upon aisle of offerings.
Besides Wegmans, the core of the town will delight you with an array of boutiques and other specialty shops. This, our first trip, enticed us to return. I’m sure you will be equally impressed.
